Parenthood and Perinatal Mental Health

The days are loooong but the years are short! When you are a parent, no truer words have been spoken. Or how about when you are a new parent? You are supposed to be in baby bliss, right? That’s a hard NO!

The arrival of a newborn can bring immense joy and love, but it also introduces a host of challenges and adjustments that can take a toll on EVERYTHING! Sleep deprivation (the root of all evil), exhaustion, anxiety, stress, family pressures, societal expectations (damn social media), all while trying to keep an infant alive. The name of the game is Survival. But there is no cash prize at the end of this reality show!  New moms, in particular, can face additional pressures related to physical recovery from childbirth, breastfeeding challenges, and hormonal changes.

Parenting is fucking hard at any stage! You probably haven’t made a single decision that is just for yourself in a while. Or what about if you are a single parent? The weight of all the responsibilities, coupled with feelings of isolation and self-doubt, can take a toll on your sanity and your changing identity. I can help you navigate this journey by providing support, empathy, and access to resources and coping strategies. This is a transformative phase of life and together we can work to make you feel like a rockstar parent, so you don’t mess up your kid(s) too badly.
